Thankful Thursday #20 – April 2015

Good Thursday evening and welcome to my monthly Thankful Thursday post!

Now that spring is in full effect maintaining the trees and garden on our little homestead requires much more time! In addition to homesteading, my new ‘Infusio Interviews‘ feature has taken up a significant amount of time and to add to the fun I started nutrition school at the beginning of this month…Whew!!

I hope you enjoy reading the things I was thankful for this past month!

  1. I enjoyed a trip to Point Reyes National Seashore the first weekend of April with my husband and some great friends. Point Reyes is a wonderful place to visit to get away from it all, especially since cell service is limited! We stayed at a casual, comfortable bed and breakfast that had no lace or doilies 🙂 called Ten Inverness Way. They serve the yummiest, from scratch breakfasts with all organic ingredients! Each afternoon they serve homemade cookies and in the evening they serve wine and cheese. It was a real treat to stay there!
  2. During our time in Point Reyes we hiked most of the Tomalas Point Trail. It is a very popular trail because you hike though the Tule Elk Reserve and you often see other wildlife, like bobcats and coyotes. I had done this hike a few years ago, before I knew I had Lyme. It was definitely a better experience this time because my shortness of breath has improved. I am so thankful I was able to keep up with everyone else!  Here’s a few pictures from our hike.

Here I am bundled up and ready to hike! Even though it was a sunny day, Tomales Point Trail is known for being extremely windy and chilly! The day we hiked was no exception! Notice how I have my pants tucked into my socks, I make sure no ticks are going to bite me 🙂 And yes, I’m wearing gloves, it was that cold!

  3. Grateful for the RAIN during our drive home from Point Reyes, thank you, thank you, thank you!
  4. Thankful for my husband’s help assembling hive boxes and frames for my new bees that arrive in May.

  5. I was thrilled to start my Nutrition Consultant Program at Bauman College! This is something I’ve wanted to do for at least 5 years but dealing with Lyme and working full-time didn’t allow the time or energy. I can’t believe I’m finally doing it! I’m so thankful for my husband’s support! I will finish in October 2016 and hope to focus on helping people with dietary support that promotes true healing as they overcome Lyme or other health issues.
  6. I am thankful for the organization, Lyme Disease.org for publishing this amazing survey about outcomes that are important to Lyme patients. Hopefully, this will shift the current treatment guidelines recommend by the ISDA, which are seriously lacking and do not help people with late stage Lyme.
  7. I was very happy to volunteer again with LymeLight Foundation as a grant analyst. They are a wonderful organization that provides Lyme treatment grants for children and young adults.
  8. I finally finished a back yard, drought tolerate landscape project, which included planting a these cute succulents. It’s so nice to longer have weeds behind our house!

Cinder blocks make excellent garden bed edging! Be sure not to use them for growing edibles because they contain heavy metals.

  9. And last but not least, I am SO, SO thankful for the amazing people who’ve volunteered to participate in my ‘Infusio Interviews.’ THANK YOU Madison, Richard, and Christi for sharing your journeys and taking the time to help others!

What were you thankful for this month? Share with me in the comments!
