I got a few pounds of ground lamb in my Marin Sun Farms CSA share and I was inspired to make lamb burgers. I used one of my favorite spice blends, Zaatar. It’s used in many Middle Eastern dishes and has a great flavor. I’m proud to say that I created this recipe all by myself. It’s my first original recipe! That’s kind of a big deal for me, since I’m good at following recipes but typically don’t create them. Maybe times are a changin’ and I might just end up being a creative “kitchenista” 🙂
Here it is, my first original recipe!
Serves 4. Prep time; 15 minutes. Cook time: 20-30 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 pound of grass-fed ground lamb or beef.
- 1 cup of organic cow or goat feta, crumbled
- 3 Tbsp of fresh mint, minced. I love using my mezzaluna to mince spices.
- 2 Tbsp of Zaatar spice blend, you can find this at most grocery stores. They also have this brand on Amazon.
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a medium size bowl. Mix until everything is well incorporated. I use clean, bare hands to mix because it’s the easiest way for me to make sure everything is mixed well.
Once combined, shape into four individual patties. Cook on a grill, or cast iron griddle, until the internal temperature reaches 150 degrees. I use this meat thermometer. I have not used ground beef for this recipe, however, I’m sure it would still be yummy!
Serve with a my Greek Spinach Salad for a complete meal.
