After Infuiso – Kaylie’s 60 Day Update

Treatment dates: February 9 – February 20, 2015

Was the administrative staff in Frankfurt helpful?

Yes they were very helpful. Jasmine, Michael, and Nadine were very professional and accommodating of all my needs. We scheduled our trip on very short notice (about 2 weeks) so some of the care details were a bit slow getting to us.

Did you feel Michael Wittstadt and Nadine Flemming were competent care providers?

Michael and Nadine were always able to answer any questions we had during the treatment process.  I have a PICC line for IVs and they took good care of it during our stay.

Was it easy to communicate with everyone at the clinic?

Once we were at the clinic it was very easy to communicate. Jasmine, Michael, and Nadine have a strong grasp on the English language.  I had some difficulties communicating via email prior to our departure, with the time difference between Frankfurt and Colorado.

Were any questions and/or concerns you had during treatments addressed?

I didn’t have any concerns during the treatment. Whenever a question did come up, about an IV infusion or the Global Diagnostics scan, those questions were answered promptly.

Did you have any type of bodywork? If so, which type?

The first week I was there I had an herbal massage, cranio-sacral treatment, and reflexology. The second week I was there I had only the reflexology.  I felt that the reflexology offered the most relief compared to the other two treatments.

What microbes did the Global Diagnostics find?

There were dozens of bacteria and parasites that the scan showed. The Global Diagnostics didn’t show Babesia, Lyme disease, or Bartonella in any of the scans.  They did find a lot of molds and other toxins in my system.  It said that there was something effecting my lung and my stomach.

Michael did say, the Lyme, Babesia, and Bartonella could have come out over the weekend when we didn’t do the Global Diagnostics.

Did the Global Diagnostics find any heavy metals? If so, did you receive treatment for those?

Of all the things I did have, this was not one of them ☺

Did the Global Diagnostics find any health issue you weren’t aware of? If comfortable, please share.

I didn’t know specifically that my trouble breathing was associated with my right lung. I had been on oxygen for some time prior to the trip. I didn’t realize that I had so many toxins and molds in my system.

Did your final Global Diagnostics still show Lyme and/or co-infections?
No, those never showed during the scans

How did you feel during your treatments?

For the most part I felt very tired.  Even though you are in a reclined seat getting IV treatment the day was still exhausting.  I would start my treatments in the morning around nine am but would have to take a nap after I was done with my treatment.  A couple of the days I felt like I had elevated energy (this meant I felt good enough to clean the dishes after dinner).  My nausea was worse in the beginning of treatment but got better towards the end. I don’t feel that my overall pain really changed during treatment.

Did some or all of your main symptoms improve or resolve after treatment?

Directly after treatment: In the first couple of weeks I had a bit more energy in my day. This meant I felt good enough to go for a walk to the end of our block and back, 4 out of the 7 days. Despite the lengthy travel it didn’t feel like I “paid for it” for several days afterward. After previous travels to California and back I would “pay for it” for at least a couple of days afterwards.

About 2 months:  I am able to get out of bed and move to the recliner in our living room most days of the week.  Prior to going I would only be able to do this every so often.  I am able to think clearly (enough) to read a book, which I wasn’t able to do prior.  Overall I feel that my joint pain is improved in general, though I still have pain off and on in particular joints.   I feel that I have fewer shooting “ice pick like” pains in my head.  I don’t need help getting the bathroom or the couch nearly as often as I did prior to going.

If you still have symptoms, please list your top 5-10 symptoms and rate each on a scale of 1-10. (1 = mild and 10 = severe)

2 months after treatment

  1. Nausea – I would say that I have more frequent nausea like a 6 or 7.  I am not always nauseous but when it hits me it is typically quite severe (dry heaving if not throwing up), requiring either an antiemetic IV push through my PICC or something sublingual
  2. Fatigue – 7  I am awake and out of bed more often but I feel exhausted all of the time. I have to portion my energy based on what I want to accomplish in the week and even then I struggle to do things.
  3. Pain – this is really tough for me to answer as there are different types of pain I experience. I am going to do my best to describe them. The sharp shooting pains that I experience, which come and go are about a 4. The joint pain that was always there is about a 3 but there are spurts in specific joints (mainly my wrists and ankles) that will be about a 6. These pains come and go. The pain that I have in my neck is accompanied with a heavy head feeling or a full pressure feeling has not really changed much, still about an 8.  There are some days that are better but on the average not much.  This is the area that has been causing me the most problem over the past several years.

Please rate your overall well-being immediately after treatment, using a percentage. For example, 100% would be in perfect health, and symptom free.

This is a difficult question to answer as a percentage. I felt better when I got home from Infusio and 2 months afterward I feel that I am better than when I went to Infusio, however, I don’t feel as well  as I did immediately afterward. I work every day toward perfect health and I look forward to the day that I get there.

What continuing care did Michael recommend on you last day of treatment?

Michael recommended that I do physical therapy when I felt able and that I take a lot of time to rest.  I feel that he was quite busy the last day we were there and that I was not given much direction beyond eating healthy and getting adequate rest.

On a scale from 1-10 (1 = terrible and 10 = excellent) please rate the accommodations Infusio provided?

9 – The apartment was clean and right next the clinic.  They had someone come in and clean a couple of times while we were there.  The store was a very short walk and there was very little noise.  The only negative was the uncomfortable pillows.

On a scale of 1-10, (1 = terrible and 10 = excellent) how would you rate the overall experience at Infusio?

7 – Everything was really clean and they seemed knowledgeable.  I feel that I could have been given more one on one attention with Michael.  I wish that they would have been more specific in what to expect in the aftercare.  I am disappointed that I don’t feel better than I do now and that I am told to give it time.

After Infusio – Christi’s Two Week Update

Treatment Dates: April 27 – May 8, 2015

Was the administrative staff in Frankfurt helpful?

Oh yes!  Very helpful and informative. They answered questions, gave us helpful information and made sure we had what we needed.

Did you feel Michael Wittstadt and Nadine Flemming were competent care providers?

Yes, I have a very sincere and abundant amount of respect for these two.  They work so, so hard and always manage to smile.  They were helpful, answered my never ending questions and always made sure I was comfortable.

Michael was only there for my first four days but he left me with a very positive outlook and his care was top notch.

Nadine is exactly who you want taking care of you.  She is kind, caring and helpful all while being calm and professional with a smile and a laugh when needed.

For my remaining six days of treatment I was also lucky in that I was treated by Phillip. Phillip is a brilliant man and phenomenal doctor. In addition to that, he has a great personality and knows how to keep people happy.

Was it easy to communicate with everyone at the clinic?

Yes, everyone spoke English.

Were any questions and/or concerns you had during treatments addressed?

I asked a lot of questions and I was always given an answer that I could understand.  If I had concerns, the staff took their time in explaining things so that I would be comfortable.

Did you have any type of bodywork? If so, which type?

I had three reflexology massages and I loved them!  I’d never had one before but I think they were instrumental in getting my body working properly.

What microbes did the Global Diagnostics find?

The only microbe that showed up was Lyme and that was in the second week.

Did the Global Diagnostics find any heavy metals? If so, did you receive treatment for those?

Yes, I had some high metals and I was treated for them.

Did the Global Diagnostics find any health issue you weren’t aware of? If comfortable, please share.

Nothing I wasn’t aware of.  Since I’d been seeing some holistic doctors here, I knew I had issues with my liver, kidneys and colon.  The scan showed that these were weak in the beginning yet much stronger at the end.  To add more positivity, my holistic doctor felt these areas after I returned.  He did some pressure tests and concluded that in fact, these areas are healing!  Great news!!!

Did your final Global Diagnostics still show Lyme and/or co-infections?

No, it was clear of Lyme and all co-infections.

How did you feel during your treatments?

I was lucky, I felt great!  I had energy to explore the local area and beyond.  We took a river cruise up the Rhine one day and the train to Heidelberg on another where we saw Heidelberg Castle, (I recommend everyone taking this excursion as this little medieval city and castle are absolutely beautiful, romantic and quite stunning).

We were also able to take a walking tour of Frankfurt which orientated us to the city and made going places much easier.  The public transit and metro systems are clean, easy and very safe.

On our free weekend we took a train to Paris and had a wonderful time in the city. Such a great and unforgettable experience.

Did some or all of your main symptoms improve or resolve after treatment?

They have highly improved.  I had a severe headache the Monday after returning but I’m not sure if that was Lyme, recovery from a 19 hour travel day, being back in an area where my allergies are bad or a combination of all of it. The BEST part is that my brain is much clearer and I don’t suffer from that severe brain fog anymore. Plus, I’m happier!

If you still have symptoms, please list your top 5-10 symptoms and rate each on a scale of 1-10. (1 = mild and 10 = severe)

It has only been one week since I returned so I expect to have these at this point, especially with the adjustment back to “real life” with two kids after being gone two weeks. Plus, my body is weak from lack of exercise and so I tend to get worn down more quickly. Disclaimer over, here’s the numbers:

  • Fatigue:  4
  • Swollen Lymph nodes:  3
  • Headaches (less frequent):  3
  • Sweating:  3
  • Joint pain & migrating joint pain:  3
  • Muscle weakness (after exertion not just from lifting up a glass of water like before):  3
  • Memory loss & forgetfulness:  1

I do know that my swollen lymph nodes and sweating are my body detoxing so I know things are working which makes things more bearable.  I make sure to drink plenty of water and also do a little self lymphatic massage in my neck.  I’ve also lost a few pounds since being back but that seems to be mostly water as my ankles were swollen from travel.

Please rate your overall well being immediately after treatment, using a percentage. For example, 100% would be in perfect health and symptom free.

I would say about 85% and I know it will go up once I get my energy back. Even with trying to relax the first week, I did too much two days in a row.  For a normal person it would have just been another day, but for my weak body it was too much.

What continuing care did Michael recommend on your last day of treatment?

I had Phillip for my final day review and he didn’t have any specific aftercare instructions for me.  He had general instructions to maintain my organic, non-gmo diet and to try and stick to a Paleo diet as much as possible, (something to do with grains in the US being higher in a particular chemical or substance that is not beneficial to the health of the stem cells).  He also said I can continue with chiropractic care and even acupuncture and massage if I wanted.

On a scale of 1 – 10 (1 = terrible and 10 = excellent) please rate the accommodations Infusio provided?

We stayed at Couva House and loved it.  I would give it an overall rating of a 7 with a 10 for location.  It lost points because there wasn’t enough counter space in the bathroom. The shower was difficult, made a mess and was hard to step out of when your feet were wet because it was a longer that normal drop.

We were in a studio and had seen the suite which would have been rated a 9 or 10 due to it’s size and the kitchen.  I also docked points because while we had a small yet functional kitchen, we had to buy a sponge and dish soap to do the dishes.  Since I cooked 90% of our meals, this was a necessity.  I also wish they had a little broom and dust pan to make it easier to tidy up the floor after cooking and preparing snacks for travel.

Overall it was a comfortable place to stay and was located in such a GREAT neighborhood. Perfect area for walking, shopping, dining and coffee.  Literally everything from an organic grocery store, clothing store, restaurants, bar, metro and taxi station were less that 30 yards from the front courtyard yet the nights were peaceful and quiet.

On a scale of 1 – 10, (1 = terrible and 10 = excellent) how would your rate the overall experience at Infusio?

Easily it was a 10.  Nothing is perfect but this was darn near it and an excellent experience!

Please share any additional information you feel may be helpful to those considering treatment at Infusio.

I would say the first thing you need to do is establish confidence in the establishment, staff and process before you even get there because they are VERY competent and caring individuals.  You have to trust the process and have faith that your body will benefit from it.

Once you have that established, research the area and find something that interests you so that you can explore. It doesn’t have to be much but the prospects of doing something fun while your enduring medical treatment is a bright light that can really shower you with happiness and positivity.  The excursions we took will forever be etched in my mind as wonderful experiences and they are times I will cherish just as much as the positive treatments I received at Infusio.

This is a life altering experience and I hope that everyone can take out of it what I have. The key for me was staying positive.  So, in addition to good health, I wish every other Infusio patient the power of positivity.

Pre-Infusio – Kaylie

Infusio Treatment Dates: February 9 – February 20, 2015

Name: Kaylie

Age: 25

What have you been diagnosed with?

Chronic Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella

When were you diagnosed?

Officially diagnosed with Lyme disease Sep 2012, Lyme symptoms as far back as 2005.

How long have you been getting treatment for Lyme and/or other infections?

A variety of treatments upon official diagnosis

How were you diagnosed?

IGenX test

If you had a Western Blot test, did it show positive for Lyme according to CDC standards?

Western Blot and ELISA were negative several times

Were you misdiagnosed with anything else prior to Lyme diagnosis?

To name a few of the multiple diagnosis: Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Possible lupus, possible MS, Chronic Migraine disorder, psychosomatic (I was crazy).  I saw every kind of specialist and was told all types of possible things. It wasn’t until I found a Lyme specialist that I began to get the right type of treatment and more importantly, I finally had someone listen to me.

Do you remember a tick bite and/or bulls eye rash?

Nothing that would be considered “traditional” Lyme disease signs and symptoms.

How long do you think you have been infected?

At least since 2005 when I had Bell’s palsy but possibly before that, I’m not really sure.

What treatments have you tried? What types of medication and supplements have you taken?

Every western medicine known to man from any doctor you would normally think of.  I tried everything, I have multiple MRI’s and CT scans. Anything and everything that a doctor could think of.

I have tried Eastern and Naturopathic Medicine from naturopaths, craniosacral therapy, acupuncture, massage, herbs, and supplements.

I’ve had these treatment from my Lyme doctor: I did oral and IV antibiotics, I have had a PICC line for over two years now from which I have done heavy doses of antibiotics.  Homeopathic and holistic remedies along with the antibiotics.  I have two 2” binders full of the different treatments, doctor’s appointments, scans and the like.

Do you feel any your current and/or prior treatments helped?

My Lyme doctor believes that with the length and magnitude of treatment that I have received, the Lyme and the co-infections have been treated effectively.  That being said I still feel like the symptoms persist and I still lack a quality of life.

Acupuncture, craniosacrial, and massage help for a few hours after my appointment, if I am lucky the small amount of relief will last into the night.

Please rate your overall wellbeing at this time.

I struggle every day. Getting out of bed on my own to make it to the bathroom and back to bed is a feat. I can’t provide a quantitative percentile to the way that I feel.

Please list your top five to ten symptoms, in order of severity. Give a rating of pain and/or severity, if possible> (1=mild to 10=severe)

  • Severe Fatigue – every single day I am without energy – 9
  • Body aches – my joints and muscles hurt whether I am in bed all day or if I get up and go somewhere – 8
  • Nausea – When I get nauseous it is intense with dry heaving and vomiting but the frequency is about a 3
  • Headache/Shooting pains – I have severe headaches and shooting pains in my head daily.  I get migraine like pain and the shooting pains create a ram’s horn like pattern through my skull – 9
  • Brain fog –  7
  • Overall health: I am on 2 L/min of O2 after an ER visit in February 2014 revealed my O2 sats to be 75%   I have had to quit my job as a NICU nurse because my treatments and symptoms were getting in the way of being an effective nurse. I was trying to do IVs during my lunch breaks and I was getting confused and nervous.  I had to stop driving after I got lost right next to the apartment I had been living in for over a year.  My fiancé need to carry me from the couch to the bed at times and set alarms to check my IVs in case I fell asleep during the treatment.  A good day meant I had enough energy to get to my doctor’s appointments and back home, though there were many appointments that I had to cancel because I could not physically get out of bed.

Why did you choose to get treatment at Infusio?

I have looked into everything else and feel that I have exhausted almost all of my other options. My Lyme doctor thinks it might help and there have been several success stories noted.  There is very little out there for me to draw from and so it is quite the leap of faith.

What is your Infusio treatment goal?

I hope to get myself back on course to a healthy life. I don’t expect to walk away a perfect picture of health but I believe it will help me get back to some resemblance of life and moving in the right direction.  To be honest, I am trying to not set myself up too much as I have had my hopes many times before only to be let down.  I am trying to set my mind toward “what will be, will be.”
