Thankful Thursday #10 – Love Your Neighbor

Neighbors, they can enhance your life, or sometimes make it difficult!

I’ve experienced what its like to live near a “not so nice” neighbor. Our previous neighborhood looked peaceful from the outside but it was shocking how one of the twenty households could make it borderline hostile with “unneighborly” behavior! Needless to say, I was glad we were able to move. Thankfully, we settled in a nice, neighborhood with really awesome neighbors!

Today, I’m thankful for my fantastic neighbors! This was inspired by my neighbor, Steve, who spent most of his day helping the whole neighborhood, more about that later.

Thankful Thursday #9 – Thank YOU!

Thank-You

I’m thankful for YOU today! Yes, YOU, the one reading this post 🙂 Thank you for taking time out of your life to stop by and read about mine!

When I decided to start this blog, I hoped it would be encouraging, informative, and FUN! Whether you’re struggling with Lyme, a new urban homesteader, or just want a recipe, I hope you find something helpful when you visit.

I never realized how thankful I’d be for complete strangers reading my posts! It’s been a wonderful experience to connect with people via comments, or by phone. I seriously wasn’t sure if anyone besides family and friends would read anything I wrote. I had no idea that 6 months after starting this blog, I’d be traveling to Germany for Lyme treatment. Life sure is full of surprises!

Those who I’ve spoken with about my experience at Infusio have been so supportive. I’ve loved talking with each person, learning more about their story, and having them share a little bit of their life with me. Those of you who’ve shared positive words via comments are so awesome too!

Those who’ve shared gardening, or homesteading tips, thank you! Those bloggers out there that I follow and learn from, thank you!

This blog has truly been a blessing. THANK YOU for stopping by!

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Thankful Thursday #8 – Rain

IMG_0001

I loved the gray clouds on my walk this morning.

I know being thankful for rain might seem a bit strange, but here in California it’s a welcome event!

Today, I’m thankful for the rain that’s headed my way!

During my walk this morning the sky was cloudy; the air was crisp and cool. It smelled like “rain” is on the way.

The intermittent rain we’ve had over the last few weeks allowed green grass to poke through our brown lawn that wasn’t watered all spring and summer. The little bit of lawn we watered occasionally during summer, is now lush, green, and growing for the first time since last spring. I might be mowing the lawn all winter!

I’m excited to turn off the drip irrigation for the fruit trees, and let the rain give the trees, bushes, and other native plants a good soak. I’m also excited to see how quickly our rain barrels fill up this year.

I’m looking forward to some windy, rainy nights to curl up by a warm fire with one of the many books on my “to read” list, and my favorite Rooibos Chai tea.

Since rain is expected late this afternoon, I’m keeping this Thankful Thursday short because I need to get outside to mow our very long grass. And that’s something else to be thankful for, feeling good enough to mow the lawn!
